Just a few blinks-of-the-eye-ago, my children looked like this:
2 1/2 years, 17 months, and 2 weeks……I have always been amazed at how fast time clips along. In college, I used to tell my roommates and friends how we were “practically finished with the semester”. One eve before a new semester, my roommate walked in our dorm room and she exclaimed, “I know! This semester is practically over!” Then when some of us turned 20, I gasped, and said, “We are practically 40!” Then I turned 40 a couple of years ago, and that statement is and was so true! In 1999, just before my roommate and I were headed on different mission trips across the globe, I told her, “We will be home before we know it.” Now we’ve been across the globe and back about a dozen more times.
With the start of this new school year, I’m trying to hold on to this year while I have it….because the next time these 4 kiddos are on the same campus? High School!
Lord, help me to enjoy this season of life, seize the day, and not waste time.
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
